Tomoya Umeda

Tomoya Umeda was born in Japan. He has received awards such as 2nd prize in the Student Music Concours of Japan 2008, 3rd prize (Highest category) in the PTNA Piano Competition 2014, 1st prize and Audience Prize in the Tokyo Music Competition 2014, 2nd prize in the Livorno Piano Competition 2017, 3rd prize in the International Piano Competition of Lagny-sur-Marne 2017, 1st prize in the International Piano Competition “Citta di Treviso” 2017,Best Performer of the Japanese Work in the 10th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition 2018.


Tomoya has given many recitals and performed with Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has studied with Okumura Makoto, Hideo Sugiura, Shoichi Hase, Hideto Nishikawa and Seizo Azuma. He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts master degree course, he studied at University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with prof. Martin Hughes.
